The B-Class has a Five star Euro NCAP for Occupant Protection. New engines include the series M270 petrol engines with displacement of 1.6 and 2.0 litres and the downsized new 1.8 L OM651/D18 diesel engine. Transmission is either a new 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission or the new manual transmission codenamed F-SG 310. ECO start/stop function will be standard on all models.
The B-class will be built on the new front-wheel drive (MFA) platform.

ACI also reports that the Mercedes-Benz B-Class may be priced at Rs. 18 Lakhs, making it the most affordable Mercedes-Benz in India.
